BETTY DOYLE - BRIGADIER DALMATIANS
BETTY KILFOYLE
January 2003
In 1962, with the help of Maxwell Riddle (dog fancier and reporter for the Cleveland Press), Betty Doyle ran an ad in the looking for Dalmatian owners in the area interested in forming a club. She asked Betty Kilfoyle to take care of her area, Maple Heights and all areas west. She then asked Phyllis Loftes to take care of the Ashtabula and Erie areas. Betty took care of the Cleveland area.
The first meeting was at Betty's house in 1962 with 6 people in attendance. Under AKC rules to form a club these ladies had to put on 3 puppy matches, and in 1965 the Western Reserve Dalmatian Club was officially recognized - thanks to Betty Doyle, Betty Kilfoyle and Phyllis Loftes, and their deep love of the Dalmatian breed.
Betty Doyle and her late husband, Bud, served the WRDC wherever they were needed. Betty joined the Dalmatian Club of America in 1979. She is also spends several weekends each year ring stewarding at shows.
Betty Kilfoyle is also a member of the Dalmatian Club of America. Over the years she and her husband were also very active in the WRDC. She continues to be actively involved with the local ring steward club, and can be seen at most shows stewarding throughout the year.

Ch. Brigadier's Tar-Tuffe Tally Up (Tally)
Betty and Bud (Doyle) began breeding under the Brigadier kennel name. They bred five litters, producing two champions. Betty also showed dogs in obedience earning four performance titles on her dogs.
Brigadier dogs, past and present, were Sam, Dal Raven, Hy Ty, Rusty, Chips, Casey, Maggie, Keeper, Tess and Tally. In 1997, Betty's bitch, Brigadier Contessa Harts (Tess) was Winners Bitch at our own WRDC specialty.
Betty says that her most memorable win was in 1962 showing under Mrs. Bonney at DCA, and receiving a 1st place blue ribbon at her first AKC show. However, she is also very proud of Tally going Best of Breed from the classes for a 3 point major win in July 2001.

Betty wishes the club continued success and says:
"Here's to another 40 years!!!"
